This weeks free pattern saturday! AND an intro to my new youtube channel where you can win some free NORO yarn to try with me!

I'm quite excited about this week's free patterns as they're ones I myself have made before.

The first one I'm going to talk about is hugely popular, I am sure anyone who has ever ventured to Ravelry will have seen it, is Reyna, by Noora Backlund. I made this as a gift pattern for my mother in law and we both adored it, she wears is often in winter.

You can download Reyna or add her to your Ravelry library here -

https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/reyna

It is written for a fingering weight yarn but honestly, the gauge is unimportant and you could pick any yarn you love in any weight and any needle and have at it. This would be particularly cozy in a DK weight!

The other pattern I want to share today is the Crochet Moss stitch square blanket by Sarah Zimmerman, I recently adapted this pattern for a baby blanket for my newest niece

You can find this pattern here and either download it or add it to your Ravelry library - https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/moss-stitch-in-a-square-blanket

For making this as-is, it recommends those fun caron cakes - you know those changing colour ones that are everrrrywhere now. Those are a worsted weight (somewhere between DK and Aran for my non-American readers). But when I made this a few months ago I had 4 balls of knit picks Felici I had no clue what to do with. As you might know, Felici is a sock yarn that works up to be self-striping. I took those and made a panel of these moss stitch squares with each ball and joined them together. It was perfect and my niece, of course, has christened it with drool as a sign of approval.

Next on the blog this week a couple of things.

First our bushfire fund raiser has now ended, the final tally stands at a total of $1520

We have raised $850 for WIRES in VIC (it was bought to my attention that WIRES NSW has in excess of 25m donated so far and VIC has next to nothing) and we have raised $670 for the Red Cross Australia.

Thank you EVERYONE who has donated and taken part in this raffle, my heart is so full of the love you guys have shown Australia in this trying time.

I will be drawing the winners and making a video of me drawing and announcing those winners for FRIDAY, to see that video and to see our raffle winners and find out if youve been lucky, you will have to head on over to MY YOU TUBE CHANNEL!!

Yes, you read that correctly Ali now has a youtube channel, where I am uploading tutorials of knit and crochet techniques and maybe some dye ones in the future if you'd like (please tell me what you'd like to see I am game for anything). So far we have 3 videos of how-tos, for your viewing pleasure, 2 knit cast on and a basic how-to crochet one. There is also my first what they call a VLOG? If you'd like to see my current projects my favourite yarns from my stash and my newest colourways from ruby fox in action, you can RIGHT HERE -

Also please note the yarn giveaway, we're gonna try some of the new NORO yarn styles together and you can win some - you just need to subscribe to my fair channel (ring the bell to be notified every time I vent forth a new video) and tell me what you'd make in the youtube comment area, you'll see why this gives me some trepidation to test in the video.

Anyway everyone enjoy your Saturday and if it's raining for you like it is here, enjoy that rain.
