Happy saturday! Lets talk lace.

Posted by alison miller on

When I first started learning to knit the word lace evoked table cloths, veils and curtains... and fear because of how complex it looked.

Turns out, it's not that hard, some of the lacework patterns I have done in the past have been some of the most engaging and fun patterns I've attempted! The thing with lace weight shawls as well is its a shawl! Just because it says use lace weight doesn't mean you have to (YMMV and you may end up with more of a blanket than a shawl but still)!

I've picked out some lovely FREE lacey patterns this week to share with you and I have added this first one to my library immediately! it is called Afetos by Cartucha Knits and is written for fingering weight in two colours so get stash diving in all those wonderful lonely skeins you have laying around - I KNOW IM NOT THE ONLY ONE!

You can download or add this pattern to your library here - https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/afetos

For our crochet contingent, this week is this awesome lacey pineapple motif shawl also done in a fingering or light fingering (not sure what that is but its a shawl lets just call it fingering and move on). Called Lacy Pineapple shawl this is published by Marly Bird.

You can download or add this one to your library here -https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lacy-pineapple-shawl

Which one will you be adding to your list? There are SO MANY wonderful free lace patterns out there this is just two of thousands. If you ever want to narrow your search on Ravelry to just include those with lace attributes, down the right hand side of your advance search page this is the box you're looking for -

As you can see there's heaps of others to choose from so have fun with the search you never know what gems you will find in the depths of Ravelry!

I have just come back from getting our baby girl Mollys legs fixed this week, its been a harrowing week of travel and dog pain but were home and shes on the road to recovery right now - riding her pink elephant in the shape of a fentanyl patch which is making her loopy! Thank you all so much for your thoughts and support and monetary donations for the raffle in aid of her surgery, that will be drawn next week so there's still plenty of time to enter each ticket is 5 dollars and you might well win a 250 AUD gift card to the store, every cent is going to Mollys vet bills and words can't express how grateful we are for your support for her, anyone whos experienced vet bills for an operation (which is not covered by vet insurance being hereditary) will know how we feel right now, this is her 3rd operation and fourth leg to be fixed so you can imagine the struggle.

Finally this week as a thank you to you all until march the 25th every order over 100AUD in store will be given a free mystery skein of fingering weight yarn. These are COMPLETE MYSTERIES so if you enjoy a good bit of intrigue this is your time to shine!

Click here to hop on through to the store to grab one - you don't need to do anything special to get one just put an order through as normal and I will do the rest.

As you can imagine after 15 hours of driving 5 of which was done with very anxiety-ridden poorly pup there is no Friday waffle this week but all being well I will be back on the normal timetable this coming week.

Until next week have a lovely weekend stay safe and dont go touching strangers xo
